Now day’s students are blogging to earn some part time income. Basically, blogging is a skill that many people try to practice, but only few can master it.

There are many college students who spend day and night to fulfill their blogging dreams. Unfortunately, most students are missing their classes, and spending their precious time in researching and writing articles. This habit ultimately effects their overall academic performance.

 Here are awesome tips for them to balance between College and blogging:

 1. CONCERNED A GREAT TOPIC : (An eye catching title)

Choose your topics, grammar and language wisely. Obscene or abusive language is ill-advised in any public setting, and your blog is no exception. Your words may come back to haunt you socially, academically, professionally or even legally.

A good title/topic is the first impression and “curb side” appeal that readers will look at before even clicking a post to be read. Often, titles are very uninspired with examples like “My Project Reflection”. If you’re having blogs visible on a feed within your schools website, you wouldn’t want 100 students all with the same title anyways. The writing skill of “summarizing” is so handy here and considers using this as a method for making an original title. Titles and topic can be questions as well, with engaging hooks to draw in a reader.

2. MEDIA CONTENT :

This is one of the most important tips for students who are blogging. It includes that you should create your own content like photos, videos and slide shows. On the other hand, the media also make your blog interesting and innovative for your readers. With this you can also enhance your basic photo and video editing skills which will also be very useful in your future.

Embedding media can be a chore, but any piece of text is spiced up with videos and images that connect the writing to tangible examples. One thing I like to do is take images and videos of students doing activities which I then make available on our server. Our school has a Flickr, Picassa, and YouTube site that I can upload images to so students may include media of themselves in their post. 

 3. Note Punctuation and Grammar:

Basically, punctuation and grammar is one of the most important things to keep in mind while writing a blog because when the small details of punctuation are sacrificed, the blog starts to look a bit low. You can also feel that you lose respect for the writer who does not even know where to capitalize while writing. So, it is very important that before publishing your content, you should proofread it at least twice and make the necessary additions if required.

This is an easy one to overlook. But when the nitty gritty details of punctuation are sacrificed, a piece starts to look a bit low-brow. Seriously, don’t we tend to lose respect for writers that don’t know how to capitalize? Don’t be in such a rush to have students publish a writing piece. Peer editing and review of drafts before final publication is just as applicable to blogging as it is to writers workshop or preparing a final draft. It’s OK to have posts in a “draft” stage.

4. Maintain balance in your post frequency

Another important tip, which students should keep in mind is that to maintain a balance in the frequency of their posts. Therefore, don’t post too often otherwise you will not be able to generate much conversation with your readers. So, you can post once or twice a week to maintain a balance with your readers

6. (TIME MANAGEMENT ) Make A Proper Schedule:

Make a time table and decide the time which suits you for blogging. Don’t be a night owl by doing research and blogging. It will affect your schedule. Try to complete your work and go to bed before midnight.  Take at least 6-7 hours of sleep.

 7. HOW MUCH TIME YOU SHOULD DEVOTE

It totally depends on your college timing. If your college ends up at 5:00 p.m then you have 7 hours for blogging and studies. Try to create a balance between these two work. Both are necessary. Stick with your schedule.

8. TELL EVERYONE ABOUT YOUR BLOG

Try to tell everyone about your work. Don’t become a suspicious guy among your friends. Give your blog address to your friends and ask them to read your blog and leave comments.

9. PARTICIPATE  PART TIME JOB

In college many students join call centers and various other part time job. But blogging is a favorite part time work and it pays you more than any other part time job. Try to catch some web publisher and show your writing skills to them. You can easily get work if you are an efficient writer.

10. EXPLORE YOUR TOPIC:( Read blogs related to your branch)

If you are a student of Computer science then you can read blogs related to your study. Lifehacker and Howtogeek are very well-known blog for computer users. Similarly you can read Howstuffworks, Techcrunch and Mashable for knowledge of various startup companies and Social Media.
